Are you ready for your Regulatory Examination?
The FAIS Act and its subordinate legislation prescribe that individuals who provide financial advice and services on behalf of a Financial Services Provider must pass the industry’s Regulatory Examinations.
This course aims to assist learners in preparing for their Regulatory Examination 5 and will provide them with adequate knowledge to pass their Regulatory Examination.
This course will address the following topics:
Module 1: An introduction to the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) Act
Module 2: Key individuals and the fit and proper requirements of representatives in terms of the financial advisory and intermediary services (FAIS) act
Module 3: Debarment
Module 4: Clarifying services under supervision
Module 5: Roles and responsibilities of representatives
Module 6: The role of a representative in maintaining the FAIS licence
Module 7: Obligations under the Code of Conduct
Module 8: Understanding the compliance function
Module 9: Record keeping obligations
Module 10: Scope of FICA and other applicable money laundering laws
Who should complete the course?
Learners preparing for the Regulatory Examination 5 (RE5) should complete this course. This includes ‘All Representatives, including those employed or mandated by an FSP, who render a financial service to a client (excluding a person rendering clerical, technical, administrative, legal, accounting or other service in a subsidiary or subordinate capacity which does not require judgement or does not lead to a specific transaction in respect of a financial product in response to general enquiries)’ (https://www.fsb.co.za/Departments/fais/Pages/Regulatory-Examinations.aspx). These learners should be familiar with the RE5 terminology, possess high-level proficiency in English and be adequately computer literate.
